Dimensions: 45 x 32 cm.
The kantha technique is a traditional textile craft originating in Bengal (India and Bangladesh). It involves recycling old saris or fabrics by layering them and then quilting them with fine, parallel, straight stitches . These tight stitches create a slightly puckered effect and give the fabric both suppleness and strength.
Historically, women in Bengal handcrafted these pieces to make blankets, shawls, or tablecloths, often adding symbolic or floral embroidered motifs . Today, kantha is also used to create throws, cushions, jackets, or accessories , always with that unique, handcrafted patina that blends upcycling, creativity, and tradition .
