Marble soap dish

Openwork soap dish in Indian marble.

Dimensions: 15x10cm

Indian marble craftsmanship is an age-old skill, particularly developed in regions like Rajasthan, the birthplace of the famous white Makrana marble—the same marble used to build the Taj Mahal. Worked by hand for centuries, marble is transformed there into decorative objects, sculptures, trays, boxes, vases, soap dishes, and bathroom accessories, combining refinement and durability.

Indian artisans excel in fine sculpture, the inlaying of semi-precious stones (the "pietra dura" technique), and delicate engravings that adorn marble with great precision. Each piece combines the precision of the craftsmanship with the natural beauty of the stone, often hand-polished to reveal its nuances of white, cream, green, or pink.
